Cosmetic bag Joséphine
5155These flowers were on the upholstery fabrics of the Empress Josephine (1763-1814) in Compiegne. The horn of plenty forming a "J" in the middle of the pattern makes a double allusion to Josephine and to prosperity. The freshness of the colors, the delicateness of the peach blossoms, the variety of flowers and leaves used in the borders echo Josephine's passion for botany. The presence of the laurel is explained in a salon of pageantry.
This jacquard cosmetic bag is woven in cotton, and lined with a thin fabric and comes with its tassel.
